CONTINUAL ASSESSMENT

        This refers to the work that the students are expected to put in for the course throughout the year.
        Daily work will be broken into two main components:
                Exercises
                        - that test content knowledge and/or require critical thinking
                        - that encourage creative expression, whether individually or collectively
        Assessment is done through discussion, class participation, written assignments and creative projects.

SEMESTRAL EXAMINATIONS

        This refers to the two major written examinations in a year.
        Conducted at the end of each semester, the mid-year (or first semestral) exam is termed as SA1 and
        the year-end (or final semestral) exam is termed as SA2.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITES

        This refers to any form of literary activities and competitions that the students undertake in a year.
        The purpose of this component is to encourage students to take the initiative in doing well in this subject.
        It is also meant to generate interest, facilitate literary participation, relieve exam pressure and
        contribute to the overall cultural life of the school.

 
        This criteria will be told to all pupils at the beginning of the year by their subject teachers.
        (Each student can gain a maximum of 10 points per year - to be added to the Final Overall score)

 

 Co-Curricular Criteria
 
 
  
     Attendance and participation at plays / talks/ seminars   
     for example, short story or poetry workshops   
            - 1 mark for attendance and report to be written.   
              ( max. of 3 points regardless of how  many workshops attended )  
 


     Original creative contributions to Swiss Voice   
     for example, poems, short stories ... et cetera   
            - 1 mark for contribution   
            - 2 marks for student editors   
 


     Outstanding critical assignments posted on Swiss Voice    
     for example, essays, textual analysis ... et cetera   
            - 1 mark for selected entries   
 


     Interclass Competitions ( performances / skits )   
     for example, in preparation for the English Festival   
            - 4 marks for Gold   
            - 3 marks for Silver   
            - 2 marks for Bronze   
            - 1 mark for Participation (not to be added to award winners)  
 


     Literature in English Exhibition   
     for example, computer-based presentations / drama presentations / projects   
            - 4 marks for Gold   
            - 3 marks for Silver   
            - 2 marks for Bronze   
            - 1 mark for Participation (not to be added to award winners)  
 


     Assembly / Break-time theatre   
     for example, poetry recitals / skits / readings / story-telling / mime  
            - 2 marks for each performance   
 


     National / International Literary Competitions 
     for example, playwriting / essay writing / creative writing / story-telling 
          - 4 marks for 1st / Gold  
          - 3 marks for 2nd / Silver 
          - 2 marks for 3rd / Bronze
